Ragged Edges

From my heart to yours

I write you this letter

I write you the words that you long to hear

From my lips to yours

I give you this kiss

and breathe my breath into you

From my hand to yours

I give you my life

I guide you to the end of time

From my soul to yours

I give you my all

So you can learn to be free

From your heart to mine

You write me a letter

The words you write don’t mean anything to me

From your lips to mine

you give me a kiss

and take the breath back from me

From your hand to mine

you give back my life

you end the journey with me

From your soul to mine

you take back my all

and take my freedom from me

A broken love story

Yesterday the page was clean
I wrote with a romantic
scrawling script
you had no faults
neither did I
I listened as you spoke
I heard what you said
the words were melodic
and sincere
I thrived on all you did
I worshipped all you said
your smile lit my world
it was dark
there were no doors
you lit me up
both inside and out
I carried the warmth
I smiled
and then
the pages quickly filled up
your words echoed in my head
I drowned you out
the words came harsh
I tore up the pages
bit by bit
I drowned the incessant growl
I relished my time alone
I relished the darkness
I actively sought the quiet solitude
I wanted my freedom
I needed my time
I looked at you with vile and contempt
I wanted to escape
I did
