The old tale

Upon the page
it was written
a long long time ago
browsed
not read
not even the first line
the book sat on the shelf
til one day
it was tossed
into the bin
filled with trash.
Picked up
by the man
walking his dog
and carried home
to be put on his shelf
til one day
the little girl
bored,
reached up and pulled it
down
opened it up
to browse
then turned the
first page
and did not put it down
til all the pages had been
turned
all the words had
been read
and remained
in her head
in her heart
for all time
