The day the old man died

He closed his eyes
took his last breath
and left his body
outside the winds
howled and the sky grew angry
lashing the land with
rain
fat droplets, falling fast
until they were blurs of
water, cold
and icy
all around
they gathered
with sorrow
and anguish
wailing, loud
blood curdling screams
pain
soon the sky cleared
and the sun made it's way through
shining, glistening
to the ground
through it all
we saw
his soul floating
being carried away to another
place
and peace filled our hearts
