Time passed

Memories faded
in an album
chubby angelic
little babies
smiling
carefree
now grown
aged lined faces
furrowed brow
where did the time go
when did you grow
up, children of
your own
worried
sad
slipped through
the ages
time passed.

Panes of glass

Through frosted glass
I see you
distorted
sad
alone
panes thick
and solid
I want to touch your
face
your skin
cold beneath
my fingers

I wish for days
that were
days of yesterday
where my fingers
caressed your face
held your hand
warm fingers
no glass windows
to keep you
from me
I can barely remember
those times

The Angel

An angel from heaven
called my name
said she
so sweetly
it's time
said I-
I cannot go
my time is not done
are you certain, you seek me?

The angel from heaven
insistent she was
outstretched her hand
to me
it's time
said I-
I cannot go
my family awaits for me

The angel from heaven
with a scowl on her face
splayed her wings
and said
it's time
said I-
I cannot go
for the day has just dawned for me

The angel from heaven
gathered me
into her arms
quite tenderly
it's time
said she
no words left to say
no thoughts of today
and off she went
with me.

Cherry Blossoms

A crack in the dirt
new life sprouts
tender green
fragile stalk,
leaves follow
reach for the sun
guided
nurtured
cared for
soon, blossoms
red
buds, slowly
open
begin again
just to fall
float
wither
and die.

Grey, black confetti

Burnt the words last night
burnt the pages
one by one, fire
flames, red
orange bright
licked the air
scattered embers
flew threw the night
history
another page
never to be repeated
never to be forgot
burnt
ash
scattered to the ground
bland grey, black confetti
stood on
trodden on
down in the ground
no more words
no more books
forgotten in time
in a burst of flames

An ill fitting coat

Many lives hidden
many lives undone
at the seams
of life’s great big coat
unravelled strings
one by one
by promises kept
and secrets hidden
his fall from grace
her last insult
their communal sin
seeking salvation
from this world
into the next
walking blind
who knows where
into the fire
into the light
all for what
an ill fitting coat?

The old tale

Upon the page
it was written
a long long time ago
browsed
not read
not even the first line
the book sat on the shelf
til one day
it was tossed
into the bin
filled with trash.
Picked up
by the man
walking his dog
and carried home
to be put on his shelf
til one day
the little girl
bored,
reached up and pulled it
down
opened it up
to browse
then turned the
first page
and did not put it down
til all the pages had been
turned
all the words had
been read
and remained
in her head
in her heart
for all time
